چکیده
Two subtests—Sarcasm Comprehension and Metaphor Comprehension—of Gardner and Brownell’s (1986) Right Hemisphere Communication Battery, adapted to Hebrew, were administered to 27 right-brain-damaged (RBD) patients, 31 left-brain-damaged (LBD) patients, and 21 age-matched normal controls. RBD patients tended to score somewhat lower than LBD patients on Sarcasm Comprehension METAPHOR AND SYMBOL, 15(1&2), 63–83 Copyright © 2000, Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, Inc.

The neuroanatomical basis of understanding sarcasm and its relationship to social cognition.
The authors explored the neurobiology of sarcasm and the cognitive processes underlying it by examining the performance of participants with focal lesions on tasks that required understanding of sarcasm and social cognition. Participants with prefrontal damage (n=25) showed impaired performance on the sarcasm task, whereas participants with posterior damage (n=16) and healthy controls (n=17) pe...
متن کاملThe Effect of Different tDCS Protocols on Drug Craving and Cognitive Functions in Methamphetamine Addicts
Background and objective: Drug craving is considered to be a major problem in addiction treatment. Neuroimaging research has revealed various areas for drug craving, among which two key areas are the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and the cerebellum. The DLPFC is involved in different cognitive tasks like the inhibitory control over seductive options harboring the promise of immediate r...
متن کاملSexual Dimorphism in Surface Anatomical Parameters of Human Cerebral Cortex in Different Lebes in Normal and Neurodegenerative Subjects: a Stereological and Macroscopical Study
Purpose: This study sought to determine sex differences in surface anatomical parameters (thickness and surface areas) of human cerebral cortex in different lobes of the left hemisphere in normal right-handed subjects and right-handed subjects suffering from Alzheimer and Parkinson's diseases. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was performed on 72 normal human brains...
متن کاملارزیابی تقارن نیمکره مغزی کودکان مبتلا به لکنت رشدی از طریق الکتروانسفالوگرافی کمی در حین استراحت
Background and Objective: In recent years, numerous studies have suggested dysfunction in brain symmetry as the reason behind developmental stuttering. The purpose of this study was to validate the theory of reversed right hemisphere asymmetry in developmental stutters by quantified EEG. Materials and Methods: 13 Subjects with developmental stuttering, 7 to 23 years old were studied using QE...
متن کاملInvestigating the Relationship Between the Left and Right Hemisphere of the Brain and the Field of Study of Golestan University of Medical Sciences Students
Background and Objective: In the process of learning, interaction and organization of both the right and left hemispheres of the brain are involved. The different functions of each hemisphere and the different capacity and learning strategies show that people do not learn in the same way. Paying attention to the capabilities of both hemispheres of the brain in the learning process can lead to a...
